Vernice IX Biennal exhibition di Gianluca Del Gobbo
The IX Biennal called, to the artistic reality already present in the Social Centres in Rome, Vernice cultural association, as a symbol of those artists called "independents", of which, in spite of adversities, we need today the presence, maybe because their sole objective is to spread art as it is, avoiding compromises with the art dealers which, stuck in the past, fear the present so much to create a false contemporary world where everything is intentionally out of date and empty, where the most important gift of an artist is the kind of art critic he can rely on. The art critics are today just accessory figures of modern art, which is an expression we really want to receive as it is, figures that, taking advantage of a power they've always had, at last became necessary to have a chance to give expression to dumb and lifeless things whose management is more convenient and often more profitable. Two are the initiatives organised by Vernice and both are to be held in the ex-abbatoir of Testaccio in Rome from 29th May to 22nd June 1999, in a space which is today home to a social centre called Testaccio Village. Here we'll meet young artists joined together by the common search of a new language that may be at he same time mirror and projection of the reality we live; a reality that for rapidity of rhythms is contaminating our life becoming more and more frenetic and alienating. New sociocultural events are missing and it's not sufficient a mere repainting of the old house to make it a trendy brand new building, we need instead a new purpose to create a new reality, other than the existing artistic circuit. Sometimes nothing is enough. Sometimes it doesn't take anything. The Exhibitions are: "VERNICE", a collective one, which is going to be held in the Tower, at centre of Campo Boario, showing painting, digital painting, sculpture installations and photography by Sergio Bianchini, Lavinia Borsini, Giorgio Ceccotti, Rita Giamberardino, Lu’, Tommaso Medugno, Gun Kawamura, Veronica Nobile Mino, Catherine Staron, Alessandro Valeri, Wladimir Vinciguerra; "R.A.M." just a taster of the multimedial art review that is in Vernice future plans, featuring permanent simultaneous multiprojections of digital painting, digital photography, videoart and cybersculpture by Mario Greco, Fabio Lattanzi Antinori, Mattia Leali, Lu’, Giuliano Percossi Papi, Flavio Signore e Wladimir Vinciguerra. Besides, a digital painting performance will be carried out, where the artist will have his screen projected on a big white cloth helping the audience understand what a creative tool the computer can be.
